Ways to Make Your Plate Colorful & Healthy

Brighten up your plate to boost your health because you deserve to live life to the fullest! Want to know the ways to make your plate more colorful? If your plate is more colorful with fruits and veggies, you are making healthier food choices that look more appealing to the eye.

As a mom of four, athlete and personal trainer, I am accustomed to preparing colorful meals for me and my family. This is what fuels our busy lives and keeps us on top of our game with staying healthy.

By having a range of colors in your foods, you can boost your metabolism and your immune system. Lack of color usually signifies less nutrients. But unfortunately, only 1 out every of every 10 people has a plate that is colorful enough. These people are lacking essential vitamins to boost their health. So, what are the range of colors you should be eating? Here is a rainbow breakdown of the ways to make your plate more colorful.

Eat Red

The saying holds true that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Enjoy an apple a day for plenty of fiber and metabolic-boosting pectin, which is great for any weight loss plan. An apple has 4 grams of soluble fiber in it, which is a whopping 17% of the recommended daily value for the day. This will help to curb your appetite in between meals.

Having an apple a day is one of the ways to make your plate more colorful and your health on track.

Enjoy Orange

Ladies, snack on some mango to lower your risk of breast cancer. Since this fruit prevents the growth of breast cancer cells it is a must for being proactive, so make sure to add this to you eating plan. Make certain your plate is colorful with this important orange fruit to help pave the path for your healthy future. You can also get some extra orange through pumpkins. Pumpkins are packed with zinc, which helps brain functionality along with your memory. Enjoy some pumpkin or pumpkin seeds for added orange! Pumpkin seeds are a great, portable snack you can throw in your purse. Add color to your diet as you increase your immune system.

Have Some Yellow!

People believe oranges are the highest source of Vitamin C, but think again! Yellow bell peppers have an astounding three times the amount of Vitamin C than oranges. Yellow bell peppers also have carnitine in them, a compound that helps covert fat to energy. Now that is a great way to boost your metabolic rate and aid your weight loss goals, so make sure you include some yellow bell peppers in your next dish. You can dice them and add to your scrambled eggs in the morning, with your salad or in any dish.

Did You Have Your Green?

Have some green in your salad, on your sandwich or in a shake to better your health and skin. Spinach is packed with Vitamin A, which is a protectant against the harmful UV rays of the sun. Kale is also comparable in its nutrients, so go ahead and add some green into your day to defy age and achieve a natural glow.

What About Blue?

Blueberries are high in antioxidants, which help cell turnover to keep your skin looking healthy while decreasing your risks of cancer. They also help increase blood flow to the brain to help you think clearer and more effectively. Did you have your blue today? If not, add this to your yogurt or oatmeal!

Want Some Purple?

Enjoy a plum for a healthy snack today to better your immune system. Plums contain compounds that help combat the growth of bacteria that causes sicknesses and viruses. In warmer weather this is a great alternate to chicken soup when you are sick. So, enjoy a purple plum today!

Don’t Forget Your White

Do not neglect the uncommon veggies most often forgot, like leeks. Make sure you include some white leeks on your plate as they lower your risk of osteoporosis, the weakening of bone density which women are at risk for. A healthy diet along with exercise can help prevent osteoporosis. Leeks contain plant fibers that help calcium absorption in the body.

Make sure you eat calcium rich foods like yogurt, other dairy and leafy greens with your leeks for bettered calcium absorption.

Go on and taste the rainbow as you focus on your health. Make sure your plate is colorful to ward off sickness and help you achieve your weight loss goals. Stimulate your visual senses along with your taste buds with color. Did you have your red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and white today? If not, you better do so!
